Are Hotels Getting in to the Ancillary Fee Game Too?

Just read this article this morning in the L.A. Times.  I know that hotels have charged for the mini bar, movies and other such things for a long time.  But it looks like they’re taking the airlines’ lead on fees and getting in all the way.  A fee for housecleaning?  Isn’t that part of the service they offer already?  Do I still have to leave a tip?  It seems like too much, especially when it’s already tough to calculate the true hotel expense when the daily rate is pumped up with all kinds of local taxes.  What have you seen hotels charge for that made you do a double take?  Do you think it’s the right thing to do?  Or is it just corporate greed?  Let me know your thoughts.
